Abstract․ The reliable and uninterrupted operation of transport and fire-rescue equipment is one of the key issues in the field. An essential prerequisite for effectively addressing this issue is the accurate identification of failure criteria in accordance with relevant standards, based on the prediction of factors that cause failures.
Within the framework of this study, failures have been classified, and their types and states have been defined. The manifestations of inoperability in units and systems have been identified, and the types of repair and adjustment operations have been differentiated.
Using the gearbox of a ZIL-131 fire-rescue vehicle as a case study, all the necessary stages for determining the criteria of failures and emergency conditions have been examined. Relevant tolerance and fit calculations have also been carried out.
The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the enhancement of reliability assessment and the optimization of preventive maintenance planning for fire-rescue transport equipment.
Key words: failure, emergency conditions, criteria, standard requirements, tolerance and fit calculation.
