Abstract. The article analyzes the distinctive aspects of legal English instruction in higher educational institutions offering degree programs in law.
It is noted that the teaching of legal English differs substantially from general language courses, as it is aimed at the formation of professional thinking, the analysis of legal documents and the accurate use of special terminology.
The article emphasizes the importance of accurate translation of legal terms and the choice of equivalents, as well as the culture of legal argumentation during communication in English.
The results prove that teaching English for law students is most effective when it includes practical exercises: analysis of court cases, development of legal writing and oral debates.
It is concluded that the teaching of legal English should be organized in an intercultural and sectoral context, developing students' linguistic thinking and legal communicative skills.
Keywords: higher education, law, foreign languages, English, legal texts, modern technologies.
