Abstract․ The article is devoted to the analysis of the concept of security, focusing on state security and its component, environmental security. It presents the origin and the development of national security, within which environmental security holds a significant place.The analysis includes the legal foundation of the concept of “interest,” as well as the legal justification of state interest and environmental interest. It highlights the necessity of institutionalizing the concept of environmental security in current legislation and state strategy, conditioned by environmental interest.
Relevant conclusions are drawn regarding legislative gaps, and the conceptualization of environmental interest along with methods for its protection are presented.
