Abstract․ War is not merely a process of armed confrontation. In the modern strategic landscape, it is a complex, multilayered confrontation in which the use of physical force represents only the visible fragment of a much deeper and systemic conflict. First and foremost, it is a cognitive confrontation, with the human mind as the main battlefield. Its objective is to break the individual for the purpose of transformation, reconstruction, and exploitation in line with the adversary’s goals. The opponent influences our psyche by targeting our worldview, way of thinking, traditions, beliefs, and habits — essentially finding the “key” to our cognitive system in order to control our behavior and influence our decisions and actions [8].
No war has ever started or been waged without information influence on society. Only the methods and technologies of information transmission have changed, while the objectives have always remained the same: to inspire and motivate one’s own forces, and to demoralize and discredit the enemy.
The cognitive and informational components of war have today acquired greater significance than ever before. In the context of social media, digital platforms, and a globalized information space, the adversary can influence not only individuals but also the consciousness of broad segments of society. This creates new challenges for the protection of national security and identity.
Key words: informational and psychological influence, cognitive confrontation, information technologies, systemic destruction.
