Training course on “Democratic Police” in Tsaghkadzor

October 31 to November 3, 2016 – Upon the Initiative of the OSCE Office in Yerevan, Tsaghkadzor Marriott Hotel hosted a training course on “Democratic Police”. The training course was attended by 28 students of the Academy and College of the Police Educational Complex. Welcoming remarks were delivered by Colonel Yesayan, First Deputy Head of the Police Educational Complex, who attached great importance to the implementation of such projects as well as cooperation between the Police Educational Complex and the OSCE Office in Yerevan stating that experience exchange and cooperation play a relevant role in developing future generation. The participants were also welcomed by Politico-Military Officer of the OSCE Office in Yerevan Bernhard Frankl who emphasized the need for such an initiative.

On the first day, within the topic “Police-public partnership” there were presentations about democratic police, community policing concept and its development, cooperation between police and mass media.

The second topic was on “Domestic violence and effective response to victims’ problems”. The “Social Justice” NGO members came up with reports, various practical exercises and role plays about forms of domestic violence as well as psychological violence. 

The third day of the training course was devoted to the methods of developing necessary capabilities and skills for conflicts resolution in crisis situations. On the final day of the course, there were presentations on police values and ethics.
