INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON “POLICE-PUBLIC RELATIONS” AT THE POLICE EDUCATIONAL COMPLEX

June 5, 2015 – By the support of the OSCE Office in Yerevan, the International Workshop on “Police-Public Relations” was held at the RoA Police Educational Complex delivered by the experts of the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of the Armed Forces. The workshop brought together heads of Yerevan City Department of the Armenian Police and community police subdivisions of territorial divisions, as well as representatives from Police Headquarters, DPOP, DPRI and faculty of the Police Educational Complex. 

On behalf of the top management, Police Colonel Gagik Gevorgyan, Head of Educational-Methodical and Development Department of the Police Educational Complex, welcomed the participants of the workshop wishing them effective and fruitful work. Welcoming remarks were also given by Susanna Naltakyan, Politico-Military Officer at OSCE Office in Yerevan, Doctor Philipp Fluri, Deputy Director of the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of the Armed Forces.

During the workshop, reports were given by Mr. Thorsten Stodiek, representative of the OSCE Secretariat and DCAF experts Dr. Tim Parsons and Dr. Daniel Silverstone. Police Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Avagimyan, Senior Lecturer at Administrative Law and Police Administrative Activities Department, also came up with a report on “The Experience of Armenia in Implementing Community Police Model. Main Challenges”.

Other issues related to community police-public partnership were discussed at the workshop.
